Vrat ke aloo. Vrat ke aloo recipe is a spiced potato recipe which is served during many fasting occasions in India. It can be had all by itself on fasting days with a dash of lemon juice. Or you can have it with chapati, paratha or puri on non-fasting days.

Crunchy peanuts and crispy aloo makes it a fantastic recipe for fasting and vrat. Vrat ke aloo chaat recipe - crispy potato pieces seasoned with very few spices, fresh herbs and drizzled lemon juice on top. You can cook Vrat ke aloo using 6 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you achieve that.
Ingredients of Vrat ke aloo
- It's 1 .5 teaspoon of Ghee (Clarified butter).
- It's 2 of Green chilies chopped finely.
- Prepare 2 cups of Potatoes washed, peeled and cubed.
- Prepare to taste of Rock Salt (sendha namak).
- You need 1 teaspoon of Red chilli powder.
- You need 1 tablespoon of Cilantro or coriander leaves finely chopped for garnishing.
This is my childhood favorite recipe. Whenever our family observe the fast, my mom makes this aloo chaat as an afternoon snack. So here I am with her recipe and sharing with your guys. Vrat Ke Aloo( व्रत के आलू) is a simple dish daily used during the Navratri fast.
Vrat ke aloo step by step
- Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker on medium heat. Once hot add cumin seeds. Let them sizzle then add chopped green chilies and saute for few seconds. Add cubed potatoes. Mix it..
- Add salt and red chilli powder. Mix well. And let it sauté.
- Garnish with coriander.
It is a simple dish yet it is very delicious to eat. This potato curry goes best with poori and roti, but it can asloalso be eaten with any main dish. Serve vrat wale aloo with tea and roasted peanuts for snack. You can also serve vrat wale aloo with buckwheat bread - kuttu ki poori and plain yogurt.
