Recipe: Appetizing Idli sambar

Idli sambar. Idli sambar recipe made with dal, quick cook veggies, spices and herbs. This is my version of the quick tiffin sambar that goes good with most South Indian breakfasts. You can serve this flavorful & delicious tiffin sambar with Soft idli, Instant Rava idli, medu vada, khara pongal, Crispy dosa, masala dosa and most other tiffins.

Ingredients of Idli sambar

  1. You need of Idli batter Rice - 3 cups1 cup Urad dal.
  2. You need of dry red chilli.
  3. Prepare of Chana dal.
  4. You need of Baking soda - 1-2.
  5. Prepare of Salt - add to taste.
  6. It's of 1 cup tur dal soaked.
  7. You need of chopped onions.
  8. You need of ingredients of sambar.
  9. It's of red chilli powder.
  10. You need of chopped onions.
  11. You need of tomato puree.
  12. Prepare of ginger garlic green chilli paste.
  13. It's of sambar masala.
  14. You need of turmeric powder.
  15. You need of salt to taste 2 to3 tsp oil.

Toor dal or moong dal used in the sambar should be cooked really well, soft and mushy. Add peeled small onions, slit green chillies and fry for a minute. Add chopped tomatoes and a pinch of salt and fry until tomatoes turn soft. Add enough water with tamarind juice and bring to boil.

Idli sambar instructions

  1. In a cokker add oil.. Add onions, ginger garlic green chilli paste...saute for 5 to 6 mins.
  2. Add red chilli powder turmeric powder salt mix properly... 4... add tamaotoes mix well 5. Add dal water....
  3. Whisel it in cooker (2 to 3) 7. After whisel beat it lii 8. In a pan add oil sambar masal, dry red chilli, kadi pata saute and turn it out in sambar 9.smabar is ready.
  4. Idli batter.

  8. Now add dal. In 15 mins sambar is ready.

Add turmeric, sambar powder and required salt. Sambar, a hot and spicy lentil soup with mixed vegetables, is a must have accompaniment for popular South Indian breakfast and lunch recipes like Idli, Dosa, Medu Vada, Steamed Rice etc. The consistency of the sambar should be a little watery, so add water accordingly. When it starts to boil, simmer and cook for a few minutes, stirring in between. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with idli, dosa or ven pongal.
